/Kaoru's POV/
Now, do you see why I had been so scared to face my family with Toshiya? Kyo was a perfect combination of my father and mother. My dad was a very smart man and my mom was, well, naughty. So you could say that Kyo was the smartest naughty kid or the naughtiest smart kid in town. No matter how you put those words together, it would still be Kyo. No doubt about that.
Toshiya giggled. "Hmm… I'd say you're too young for me. How old are you?"
"I'm not young! I'm 23." Kyo answered.
"Liar! Toshi…" Oops. "Totchi, don't buy his lies, he's only 16!" Oh. That reminded me, I had been too careless. How could I forget that my mom knew who Toshiya was? Luckily, I had managed to give a believable lie. This should never happen again.
"Kawaii!" Toshiya blurted out and hugged Kyo.
Surprisingly, Kyo didn't go berserk like he always did when he heard that word. Instead, he turned his head to look up at me. "See? He likes me."
Toshiya giggled even more. During those six months we had spent together, I have never seen him laugh like that, maybe because I hadn't given him enough room to laugh.
"You wish. Unfortunately, you're not his type."
"Are you suggesting that you are his type? That's rather absurd." See? Kyo didn't even speak like a normal sixteen year old boy would.
"You said it, not me." I really didn't like where things were going, so they should be put to an end quickly. "Though there's one thing I'd like to say," I walked over to Toshiya and collapsed on the couch beside him. "He's mine." I said as I wrapped an arm around him.
Kyo glared at me and that signaled the end of the argument. I didn't want to argue with him in the first place, especially not over Toshiya. It gave me major goose bumps just to be near him; but there was no helping it.
"Boys." My mom came with a bunch of skirts on hangers. "Stop fighting over Totchi. He's mine, at least for now." She grinned. "Come here dear." She almost squealed, motioning Toshiya to come over to her. My mom had always wanted to have a daughter, so that explained her behavior. But what I wasn't expecting was that she'd also fancy prepping a guy up.
One of the reasons why I had never been fond of dating a girl was because I knew very well that my mom will pretty much steal the girl away from me. She would bug the girl out and ask her out to shop; and I had a feeling she was about to do that soon.
"So Totchi, wanna go shopping with me? My treat!"
Told ya.
"I mean, Kao's treat." She added then grinned at me. She sure sounded like a teenage girl. I couldn't believe she was my mom sometimes. Not that I have something against her or anything. I just can't believe how my dad, who had been her complete opposite, had fallen for her in the first place. Maybe that was when the saying opposites attract came in. "But first, I want you to change into this." She lifted a very short pleated skirt up.
Toshiya's eyes bulged at the sight of the skirt. "But…" He hesitated, probably worrying about offending my mom. "Isn't it a bit...too short?"
"Well, you've got the legs so why not show them a little?"
"Show them a little? Or hide them a little?" Kyo intruded.
My mom ignored Kyo as if he didn't exist. Those two were so alike, there was no denying it. "Come on, just try it. Please?" She clasped her hands to try and persuade Toshiya better.
Toshiya bit the inside of his lower lip before mumbling an "Okay," then stood up. He followed my mom and both of them disappeared in front of Kyo and me in the blink of an eye.
"Mom, what are you up to?" I asked when she came back without Toshiya.
"Hmm… Nothing~" She grinned.
"I don't trust your idea of 'nothing'." I gave her a cynical look.
"Same here." Kyo shook his head. It was the first time in a long time that Kyo and I had agreed on something.
Suddenly, Toshiya reappeared. He was hiding his flushed face behind the skirt had been wearing. He didn't say a word but it was obvious that he didn't really like it. And I was positive I know why.
My eyes traveled downwards and as soon as they landed on Toshiya's legs, my eyes widened. "You can't wear that!" I stood up abruptly.
"Why not?" My mom pouted.
"Because!" I realized my voice was rather loud. "It hardly covers anything and his ass is so there for everyone to see!"
"Oh, Mr. Boyfriend is so protective!" My mom teased but Toshiya didn't seem to be affected at all.
"But it sure does look good on him."
"Shut up!" I smacked Kyo with a pillow from the couch. "If you guys insist on it, then I won't be treating anyone." I turned my back on them and headed to the kitchen. I really need some water. Where had that skirt came from anyway? I was absolutely sure it wasn't anything my mom would wear. I can't believe that damn thing got me this upset. When I had finally calmed down, I decided to go back to the living room.
Toshiya was still on his previous position when I came. "Why are you still wearing that? Go change." I turned Toshiya around and put my hands on his shoulders and guided him to the room.
"Enjoying his back view eh?" My mom teased again with a wide grin on her face but I managed to shrug it off. "Oh, probably you see it a lot that you had learned to control yourself?"
"What are you talking about! I've never seen it!" I yelled.
"Odd." Kyo said blankly. "Are you sure he's your boyfriend?"
"Of course!" I answered in a high tone.
"Uh, that wasn't really a question. It was supposed to be a joke."
Sweat started forming on my forehead but my hair managed to conceal it as Kyo gave me a cynical glare. I didn't know what to say; I was caught completely off guard.
"Shut up, Kyo! You're brother is lucky enough to have such a beautiful boyfriend so stop questioning their relationship." With that, my mom hit Kyo's head, and hard.
The way my mom said it made it sound like I was the one after Toshiya. But no matter how much I wanted to argue, I couldn't. All I wanted was to disappear right in front of Kyo. I have a feeling that our secret would be revealed way too soon because of him.
"Kao." Toshiya called. He was poking his head out of the door. "I need help. A thread got hooked on the zipper at the back so I can't zip it up. Zip it for me, please?"
I realized everyone's attention was now on him. I let out a sigh of relief as I headed to the room. I didn't really think about what Toshiya had said because all I can think of was how to get away from my mom and Kyo's sight. "What was that again?" I asked as I closed the door behind me.
"You owe me one." He grinned and then came up to me.
"Owe you what?" I raised an eyebrow.
"You looked like you were in deep trouble, so I thought I'd help you out." He grabbed the door knob and turned it. "Shall we go?" He offered his hand as he opened the door but I shut it.
My palm was pressed on the door beside his head as I glared at him. "I just want to remind you, this is nothing but pure acting. I hope you're not getting carried away." I glared at him.
He gave me a confused look before answering. "Huh? Of course."
I pulled back and took the hand he was previously offering me. It was very warm and soft. I wondered how he managed to maintain its softness with the job he had now. Anyway, we came back to the living room. "Is everyone ready?" I noticed how their eyes were directed to our linked hands.
Toshiya seemed to have noticed too as he gave me that smile which meant 'Am I great or am I great?' or something along those lines.
The simple contact of our hands erased mom and Kyo's doubts in an instant.
"Let's get going." I declared, assuming their silence as a yes. Toshiya and I moved it before they did. I was sure I could feel their eyes were still on our hands. So I held Toshiya's hand tighter, wanting to fool them even more.
"What's up with the two of you? You weren't that touchy earlier." Kyo question again. We could have fooled the whole world but not my little brother.
"Shut up already! One more word and we're leaving you behind." Mom scolded the little brat. He deserved it. "And stop watching them, will you? You might see something not appropriate for your age." My mom's tone was dead serious so she couldn't be joking now, right? But I was glad she was totally buying our lie.
"Can we just go now?" I said trying to change the subject before dragging Toshiya outside and fortunately, mom and Kyo trailed behind us without another word.
"I'll take the backseat." Toshiya announced as he untangled his hand from mine.
"No dear, Kyo and I will take the backseat." My mom argued.
"No, Totchi and I will take the backseat." Kyo said and took Toshiya by the hand. "That way, I won't be seeing things inappropriate for my age."
My mom and I sighed in unison. "Kay." I mumbled as I rolled my eyes then got in the car.
The whole trip didn't take very long but it was very uncomfortable to be in one car with those three. Kyo kept on looking at Toshiya, then me, then Toshiya, then me, while my mom was keeping an eye on Kyo as Toshiya kept on fidgeting under Kyo's glare.
Kyo didn't waste another second and dragged Toshiya by the hand when we reached the mall. "Let's go! I have a lot of things to show you. We can find things here which are unique to Osaka."
"Wait." My mom interrupted right before they could make it out of the car. "Leave him alone."
Kyo ignored her and headed out with Toshiya, who didn't retaliate, or more like, who couldn't retaliate.
"Hey, hey, hey!" My mom rushed out of the car and so did I. "I was the one who invited him to go shopping in the first place, so he's going with me." She pulled Toshiya's free hand.
"Let go of him." I said as I tried to pull Toshiya away from them. "He's mine."
"Oh really?" Kyo raised an eyebrow and let go of Toshiya's hand. "Prove it."
"What?" What was he thinking?
"Prove it with a kiss."
and you better not leave us hanging there for long ^^ I want a kaototchi kiss~
